
WisGateOS 2 v2.3.1: Major Platform Upgrade and System Improvements
This major release upgrades WisGateOS 2 to an OpenWrt 23.05-based platform, introduces OpenSSL 3 support, improves security compliance, and enhances system stability. It also adds advanced cellular management features, improves extension handling, and resolves multiple connectivity, logging, and configuration issues.
NOTE
WisGateOS 2 is available only for version 2 WisGate Edge gateways, Soho gateways, and WisGate Edge Ultra gateways.
The supported models are as follows:
- WisGate Edge Pro version 2: RAK7289V2, RAK7289CV2, RAK7289V2H, RAK7289CV2H
- WisGate Edge Lite 2 version 2: RAK7268V2, RAK7268CV2, RAK7268V2H, RAK7268CV2H
- WisGate Edge Prime version 2: RAK7240V2, RAK7240CV2, RAK7240V2H, RAK7240CV2H
- WisGate Edge Ultra Full-Duplex: RAK7285, RAK7285C
- WisGate Soho Pro: RAK7267
IMPORTANT
- This is a major update of WisGateOS 2. After upgrading, downgrading from the local WebUI is not supported.
- Create a backup of your gateway configuration before upgrading.
- The platform upgrade introduces significant system changes, including an OpenWrt 23.05-based environment and OpenSSL 3 integration.

Known Issues
- Wi-Fi AP and client services may restart when switching to Basics Station mode
- Built-in NS mode may fail when sending downlinks with FPort values above 223
- SD Card Monitoring may not always detect SD card corruption
- An advanced cellular operator scan may fail on some RAK7267 variants
- The password change prompt may not appear correctly over serial/SSH in specific cases
- LTE operator information may not be available on the following devices: RAK7267-EG915U-EU & RAK7267-EG915U-LA
- In ChirpStack V3 + MQTT Bridge (JSON mode), nodes may not receive Class B downlinks
- The Allow-ChirpStack port 8080 is enabled, but this port does not provide a service
- The browser time sync button on the local UI browser is non-functional
- Resetting the gateway or reburning the firmware will lose the installed extensions
