RAKwireless Outdoor Enclosure for WisBlock
Figure 1: Outdoor enclosure | Figure 1: Solar panel mounting |
|---|
This enclosure is designed for outdoor use with WisBlock modules. It does not use gaskets and is inspired by the Takachi OB enclosure series. It offers rain protection when installed in the correct orientation. It does not have an IPxx rating and cannot be submerged in water, but it has proven to withstand heavy rain, even when rain hits the enclosure walls at a steep angle.
There are eight enclosure variants that are organized by print plates in the print profile. Each variant supports different use cases. They include options for solar panel mounting, external antennas mounted at the top, and vents that provide airflow.
These variants make the enclosure suitable for outdoor LoRa repeaters, LoRa and LoRaWAN sensors, Meshtastic repeaters, and Meshtastic WiFi MQTT gateways. An optional preparation for an M8 5-pin connector is available at the bottom of the enclosure to connect external sensors, actuators, or larger solar panels.
Available variants- Basic enclosure without external antenna or solar panel option
- Enclosure with an external antenna mount
- Enclosure with an external antenna mount and vents for sensor airflow
- Enclosure with a solar panel mounting option
- Enclosure with an external antenna mount and a solar panel mounting option
- Enclosure with an external antenna mount, a solar panel mounting option, and vents for sensor airflow
- Enclosure with a solar panel mounting option and vents for sensor airflow
- Enclosure with vents for sensor airflow

RAK WisBlock Outdoor Concept WisMesh Repeater
Figure 1: Outdoor enclosure concept | Figure 1: Antenna mounting |
This enclosure is the predecessor of the RAKwireless Outdoor Enclosure For WisBlock. It was originally created as an alternative enclosure for the WisMesh Repeater device. Compared to the newer modular design, this version places the connections for the solar panel and the external antenna at the bottom of the enclosure and does not route them directly to the WisBlock Base Board.
It is available in a single variant. The solar panel carrier is compatible with the newer outdoor enclosure, and the external antenna mount is provided as a separate part.

Ultrasonic Sensor Enclosure WisBlock RAK12007
Figure 1: Ultrasonic sensor enclosure | Figure 1: WisBlock mounting |
|---|
A small enclosure for an ultra sonic based sensor using the WisBlock Modular System.
With two screw holes to fix the enclosure on a wall.
Measures distance to the closest object in the field of view and sends the measured distance over LoRa or LoRaWAN network.
No native support from Meshtastic or MeshCore, but the functionality can be easily added.
Assembly is simple and straight forward, see the animation and assembly pictures in the model pictures collection.

RAK5010 "Outdoor" enclosure
Figure 1: Cellular tracker & sensor | Figure 1: Assembly |
|---|
This is a smaller enclosure alternative for the WisTrio RAK5010 cellular tracker and sensor module.
It can be used outdoors, but it does not have any IPxx protection. An overlap of the lid and the bottom provides some protection against water splash.
The enclosure is large enough to hold the RAK5010 and a 3200 mAh battery (64 x 44 x 10 mm). It has a provision to connect an external antenna with RP-SMA or SMA connector and a space to fix the GNSS antenna.
