RAK7437/RAK7437C BACnet Gateway
Overview
This document provides an overview of deploying and configuring the BACnet/IP Gateway on the RAK7437/RAK7437C BACnet Gateway for LoRaWAN.
The BACnet Gateway facilitates the integration of LoRaWAN devices to be integrated into BACnet/IP-based building management systems (BMS). For BACnet deployments, the gateway utilizes the Built-in LoRaWAN Network Server, which is essential for supporting BACnet device mapping and data exchange.
Once the Built-in Network Server is activated, all onboarding, management, and data handling for LoRaWAN devices neccesary for BACnet integration are conducted within the BACnet Gateway configuration.
BACnet Gateway Configuration Steps
To configure the RAK7437/RAK7437C as a BACnet Gateway, follow the recommended sequence below:
-
Gateway Access and Network Connectivity
Complete the initial access and internet connectivity using the Quick Start Guide. -
LoRaWAN Network Server configuration (required)
Configure the gateway to use the Built-in Network Server, and select the correct region and frequency band. This step is mandatory for all BACnet Gateway deployments. Refer to the Quick Start Guide. -
BACnet Gateway Configuration
Configure BACnet/IP parameters, add and manage LoRaWAN devices, map BACnet objects, and enable MQTT integration if required. Refer to the BACnet Gateway Extension -
Optional Monitoring and System Management
Configure network behavior, monitor gateway performance, and utilize diagnostics or system management features as needed.
