Firmware Upgrade for RAK9105U PowerLink

RAK9105U PowerLink firmware upgrade supports Custom Firmware. Custom Firmware allows users to install user developed firmware to meet specific project requirements.

Prerequisites

Before upgrading the firmware, make sure the following conditions are met:

• You have a RAK9105U PowerLink device, and it is connected to your computer using a USB Type-C cable.

• WisToolBox has been downloaded and installed on your operating system.

• The RAK9105U PowerLink device has been successfully detected in WisToolBox and connected as a RAK3172-based module.

Custom Firmware

Custom Firmware is the supported firmware upgrade method for the RAK9105U PowerLink. It allows users to install user developed firmware for the device. Users can compile their applications using RUI3 supported IDEs such as Arduino. The generated .bin file must be compressed into a ZIP file before it can be uploaded through WisToolBox.

1. After the RAK3172 module is connected click the device icon to open Device Information and begin configuration.

2. From the dashboard window, select the FIRMWARE menu.

3. Under the Custom tab, select Custom Firmware and choose the ZIP package containing the compressed .bin file from your local computer.

4. Select the Custom Firmware version, and then click UPGRADE DEVICE below the version.

NOTE

You can also perform the following actions on the target firmware version:

• Click Add Description to enter a description for this firmware upgrade.

• Click the ⋮ icon next to the Custom Firmware version to Export firmware file or Delete this firmware version. :::

5. Click "UPGRADE" in the pop-up window to confirm the upgrade.

6. After the firmware upgrade has been completed, you may now click "CLOSE".
