IO.Box: Configuration Tool for WisNode Bridge
What is IO.Box?
IO.Box is a cross-platform desktop configuration tool developed by RAKwireless for WisNode Bridge IO devices. It enables users to configure communication interfaces, manage data acquisition tasks, and seamlessly integrate these devices with mainstream LoRaWAN® Network Servers like ChirpStack v4 and The Things Stack (TTN v3).
The tool provides comprehensive support for all WisNode Bridge IO interfaces:
- RS485 Interface: Full configuration for Modbus RTU communication, including polling and write task definition.
- AI/AO Interface: Setup for analog input and output channels to measure and control analog signals.
- DI/DO Interface: Configuration for digital input and output channels used in state monitoring and control.
By centralizing configuration and enabling data forwarding to cloud platforms via LoRaWAN®, IO.Box greatly simplifies the deployment and management of WisNode Bridge IO in industrial and field settings. IO.Box is currently available for Windows, with Linux and macOS support coming soon.
Features
- RS485 Downlink Write: Remotely control field devices by writing values directly to Modbus slave registers or coils.
- Template Import/Export: Save RS485 configurations as reusable templates for quick deployment across multiple devices.
- One-Click Device Onboarding: Automatically register devices with major LoRaWAN servers (ChirpStack/TTN) and generate the required codec scripts.
- Profile-Based Deployment: Apply complete device configuration profiles to other devices for rapid, consistent setup and easy rollback.
Hardware Compatibility
IO.Box supports the following WisNode Bridge series devices, which are based on RS485 communication and integrate multiple types of industrial I/O interfaces:
| Model | Description |
|---|---|
| RAK2461 | RS485 + DI/DO Bridge |
| RAK2462 | RS485 + AI/AO Bridge |
| RAK2470 | RS485 Serial Bridge |
IO.Box automatically detects the connected device model and dynamically displays only the configuration modules supported by that device.
